Michael Jackson's kids focus on fun at amusement park as bizarre details of singer's death emerge in Conrad Murray trial
Michael Jackson's children took their mind off the Conrad Murray trial with a visit to an amusement park in Germany yesterday.
Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and Blanket, nine, focused on fun as they checked out the daredevil rides on offer at Phantasialand in Brühl with their cousins Jaafar and Jermajesty, who are the sons of Jermaine Jackson.
The family are in Europe to attend their late father's tribute concert in Cardiff, Wales, this weekend.
In a disappointing 11th hour blow, The Black Eyed Peas pulled out of the Michael Forever concert this week.
The chart-topping R&B group were one of the biggest names on the bill for the event which also includes Christina Aguilera, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, Ne-Yo, Usher and JLS.
Jamie Fox will co-host the event with Fearne Cotton.
The group cited 'unavoidable circumstances' as its reason for pulling out.
Meanwhile, Murray's trial rolls on in Los Angeles and prosecutors are today expected to play a police interview conducted with the doctor.
In it, Dr. Conrad Murray lays out his version of events in the final hours of the singer's life. It details his treatments on Jackson, including his administration of the anesthetic propofol.
The more-than two hour interview has never been played in public before, nor has a transcript of its contents been released.
Court transcripts state prosecutors will call a Los Angeles police detective to introduce the interview, which was conducted two days after Jackson's June 25, 2009 death.
Yesterday it emerged that a porcelain doll the size of a child was found lying in the singer's bed a few hours after he died.
A picture of the toy – with its green dungarees, rouged cheeks and blonde curly hair – was shown to the jury at the trial of the star’s personal doctor.
It was discovered on top of the covers after the King of Pop collapsed in the bedroom of his Los Angeles mansion.
The photograph was taken by coroner’s officers who searched the house hours after he died.
The court also saw a police photograph of ornate dinner plates with babies’ faces – thought to be Jackson’s children – displayed on a chest of drawers along with family snaps of Prince, Paris and Blanket.
The unprecedented glimpse into the singer’s bedroom came during testimony by coroner’s investigator Elissa Fleak.
Details: Jurors also saw plates with babies' faces on them, believed to be Jackson's children, in the room where he died
A photo was also shown of Jackson’s black bomber jacket and a pair of trousers left on the floor of the en suite bathroom.
Earlier, the court heard a recording of Jackson speaking in a slurred voice about his love of children.
The groggy star was taped by Murray on an iPhone using an iTalk application. Prosecutors say it was taped while Jackson was under the influence of the hospital anaesthetic Propofol six weeks before he died.
‘My performances will be up there helping my children. I love them. I love them because I didn’t have a childhood. I had no childhood. I feel their pain. I feel their hurt. I can deal with it,’ Jackson said in a slow, faltering tone much different to his famously high voice.
‘Heal the World, We Are the World, Will You Be There, The Lost Children. These are the songs I have written because I hurt, you know, I hurt,’ he added.
Jackson told how he planned to take the millions he would make with his planned comeback tour at London’s O2 Arena to build the ‘biggest children’s hospital in the world’ with a games room and a movie theatre.
‘I care about them, them angels. God wants me to do it. I’m going to do it, Conrad,’ he said. ‘I want to do it for them. That will be remembered more than my performances.’
Murray, 58, has pleaded not guilty to causing Jackson’s death by administering him with a fatal dose of powerful Propofol, which is only supposed to be used in a hospital setting. If he is convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Murray could be jailed for up to four years.
Miss Fleak told jurors at Los Angeles Superior Court that she discovered bottles of Propofol hidden in bags in a cupboard in the star’s bedroom.
She also found an empty vial of the drug on the floor by the bed and an array of different sedatives and prescription painkillers in medicine bottles bearing the name of the star and an alias he is known to have used.
But defence lawyer Ed Chernoff accused Miss Fleak of failing to properly log the evidence. He said she didn’t test a juice bottle found by Jackson’s bed and criticised her for destroying her initial notes in the investigation.
‘You made a substantial number of mistakes in the investigation of this case,’ he said.
