She said Michael just sat there and took the accusations Jermaine was handing out. When he did finally speak, it was only to repeat himself, "I'm your brother. How could you write something like that about me?"


La Toya wrote in her '91 book "La Toya":

"I hesitate to say that Jermaine was jealous of his younger brother, but he had not exactly been supportive while Michael was laboring on his new album. During a family meeting Jermaine remarked sourly, 'He's wasting all this time on Thriller, and it's not gonna do anything. The music industry is in a slump, it's all going down. Besides, I think this album sounds like a buncha crap.'"

"We all loved both Michael and Jermaine, so it hurt us to read the latter's vicious comments in the press about his younger brother, like his opinion that Michael was trying to 'be white.' How could Jermaine say that? Yet in the next breath he'd claim he wasn't at all jealous of Michael, and that the entire family 'shared' in his success."
