I don't wanna spoil the party but let me remind you fans that this isn't over. Murray hasn't even been sentenced yet and his attorneys plan to appeal. Plus, putting Conrad Murray in prison takes him off the streets, away from you violent fans. He'll be relatively safer in prison. Even if he gets killed there, it isn't going to look good for MJ and his fans.

The reason there were so many cameras there, is because the PR Firm representing Murray's lawyer (Ed Chernoff) has contracted for the doc to make a documentary. Remember, this guy is broke.. and the lawyers need to be paid.
