  • Erin-Maree was Kathryn's only bridesmaid. She chose her own dress - a pinky peach satin, Grecian inspired dress that she bought in America.
  • For something quirky, everyone was advised to wear slippers to the wedding while keeping their dress formal.

The meeting
Kasra and Kathryn met at a Michael Jackson party that Sony was throwing. “We kept in touch after that,” says Kathryn. A few months later they went on their first date. “Two weeks later I had begun to gradually move my belongings to his place, little by little so that he didn't notice. He did however notice, and despite his initial reservations, he put up with it,” she says.

The proposal
Two years later, Kasra faced his fear of public speaking with a public proposal. “We had never really spoken about marriage as such, but we both knew that's where we would end up,” says Kathryn. They were away in Hawaii for a friend’s wedding, and on their last day there, Channel Seven’s Sunrise was being filmed in Waikiki. “Being a big fan, I dragged Kaz along (or so I thought) as well as my other friends so we could watch it live,” she says. “Nat from the Sunrise team talked to us while we were there and asked if she could interview us on the show,” she says. But little did Kathryn know that the interview was part of a proposal that Kasra had been planning for months. “I of course said yes and accepted the beautiful ring he had designed for me”.

The wedding day
“We are both very relaxed and slightly odd people and so we wanted to create a very low fuss event,” says Kathryn. So relaxed that when their best laid plans for a ceremony in a park were ruined by rain, they shifted the entire wedding and 99 guests to the reception venue for the ceremony instead. As Kasra has an Iranian background they opted for a traditional Persian ceremony. Kathryn and Kasra sat in front of a table full of items that signified positive things for their marriage while the happily married women in the room held a cloth and ground sugar cones over their heads – to signify a shower of sweetness.

The dress
Kathryn wore an alabaster, strapless, mermaid style, Pronovias gown.  It featured a Swarovski belt below the bust and a ruched bodice with a full skirt.

The cake
The cake was the shape of a fedora hat with a white sparkly glove – inspired by their mutual love of Michael Jackson. It was supplied by Elite Reception Centre.
